What to Expect
Cosmetic / facial acupuncture is a gentle, non-surgical approach to facial rejuvenation. Fine acupuncture needles are used on the face, neck and selected body points to stimulate the skin and underlying tissues and support a healthy, natural-looking appearance.
Facial acupuncture can play a great supporting role helping facial palsy patients including using electro stimulation acupuncture.
Treatments can also incorporate facial cupping and gua sha where needed, used for lymphatic drainage and circulation, tailored to individual needs.
❋ Fine lines & Wrinkles
Fine needles are placed around areas of concern to create gentle local stimulation. This may encourage circulation and the skin’s natural repair response, while helping release facial muscle tension. Over a course of treatments, this may help soften the appearance of fine lines and support skin elasticity and texture.
❋ Signs of Ageing
As we age, changes in skin elasticity, texture, hydration and facial tissues can affect how our skin looks. Cosmetic acupuncture uses targeted facial needling with traditional acupuncture to support circulation, skin appearance and facial muscle balance.
❋ Scars
Local acupuncture techniques may be used around appropriate, fully healed scars. Treatment may help with aspects such as scar sensitivity, tightness, mobility and appearance. Every scar is different, so treatment is individually assessed.
❋ Neck & Jawline
Cosmetic acupuncture can extend beyond the face to include the jawline and neck. Targeted needling may help with facial and neck muscle tension helping to combat loose under and above jaw skin, support local circulation and skin appearance, helping to create a fresher, more defined-looking appearance.
Facial palsy can cause temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles on one side of the face, affecting facial movement, expression and sometimes eye closure. Acupuncture may be used as a supportive treatment alongside appropriate medical care, with treatment focusing on facial muscles and relevant acupuncture points. The aim is to support local circulation, stimulate affected facial muscles and nerves, and assist recovery of normal facial movement. Treatment is tailored to the individual and the stage of their recovery.
